I remember seeing a fictional account of nuclear terrorists nuking Charleston sometime in the 80's. Does anyone know what the programme was called and when it was made?

Also, does anyone know of any similar programmes and can you recommend them?

  1. I found this. Could be what you were thinking about:

    Special Bulletin.

It originally aired on NBC and causes a bit of a panic in some areas, despite repeated disclaimers during the film. The plot- anti nuke protesters get a hold of a small bomb, and threaten to detonate it in the Charleston, SC harbor if their demands (the destruction of nuclear triggers) aren't met. A cable news network covers the event, with one of their own camera crews taken hostage. The military intervenes, and Charleston goes boom. Pretty scary stuff- and quite possible. Also not avaiable on DVD- and VHS copies are hard to come by.

  2. Ian r...the name of the movie you're thinking about was Threads.

Other ones...a show that appeared on PBS here in the U.S. called Testament.  It was about how a town dealt with radiation after a nuclear attack on San Francisco.  Kevin Costner and Rebecca De Mornay were among the people that played in it.

  3. I`m sure there was a programme about a nuclear blast in Sheffield in the 80`s

  4. "The Day After", a 1983 TV-movie, dealt with the effects of nuclear holocaust on Kansas. Still powerful
