  1. When I travelled to the United Kingdom last July :)

  2. Lol - when I went to America!  It was so horrible - and their 'beautiful' beaches in California were like the worst beaches you get here in Oz - so I was not impressed!

Ask this again in a few months time after the olympics - I am sure we will all be just a little more proud to be Australian!

I am proud whenever I watch the international downhill mountain biking - Australians are the best downhill riders in the world (however I am dissapointed that not many Australians know this!)

I agree with the others too - that every day I feel proud to be in Australia.  We are such a lucky country and even with all the bad things that happen that I might not agree with - you hear so many worse stories from other countries that you cannot help but be gratefull that we live here instead.

  3. I feel proud to being an Aussie every ANZAC day, and when our service men and women go abroad to put themselves in harms way to protect the rights of others.

There have been two special times this year that stand out for me though.  The first was when Kevin Rudd finally said sorry to the indigenous people of Australia for the way they have been treated.  The second was last night when I watched as Cadel Evans rode his heart out to limit his losses against his rivals in the Tour de France (I’d like to say when he won the tour, but that’s yet to happen.  Nevertheless he has demonstrated just what it means to be Australian, that you keep trying until you’ve got nothing else to give.)

These things make me a proud Australian.

Good question and all the best for your essay.

  4. Every Day man, Every Day

  5. I'm very patriotic - I'm very proud to be able to call Australia home.

My Dad was in Vietnam and marches in the Anzac day parade every year. Seeing him with his army buddies, still brothers-in-arms all these years later.. always makes me want to join the services :P

Whenever I travel and a conversation can be started simply because I sound different.

Having access to reasonable medical facilities, education... the list goes on.

    Hope that helps!

  6. Every day. Particularly ANZAC day, I am proud of all of our servicemen and women, past and present. My father was a Navy diver in Vietnam and I am very proud of him.  We have the best in the world.

  7. I last felt really proud to be australian when I was sitting there listening to a guy who came here from Africa. He was telling me how in his country he was starving and he had witnessed the horrific murders of his parents and a pregnant woman. He was saying how lucky he was to be accepted into our country and how well our government had taken care of him even though he wasn't a native of our country. I thought how blessed are we to live in a country we are safe in and how proud I am of it that we help people in need.I also feel proud that people think of our country and want to come here when they are looking for a better life.

  8. EVERYDAY

  9. Anytime Australia stands on her own two feet!

For example, pulling our guys out of Iraq!

It was often suggested that John Howard (the Prime Minister at the time) was a brown-nose; and his nickname was "Shrub"... coz he was a little Bush!

The whole Iraq thing was a farce; and when Kevin Rudd (current Prime Minister) said our boys are coming home... I whooped for joy.

I'm NOT slagging off at America!  If America wants to go to h**l in a hand basket... that's their decision.  But I'm so proud of Australia when she says... "thanks; but no thanks.  I think we'll do this our way".  Sick of my homeland hanging onto the apron strings of Great Britain or America.

I'm so proud when Australia says "this is how we do things down under.  You don't like it... there's the door".

I'm not being racist or anything... just tired of Australia being a "doormat" for other countries to walk all over.

Phew... down off my soapbox (LOL).

However, I think whoever set your homework wants to know the last time YOU felt proud to be Australian.  I don't think they're going to be too interested in my experiences.

    Good luck.

Hope you get top marks for your assignment.

  10. When i hear about the fact that ppl in england have 2 b really rich 2 own a 4 bedroom house yet in australia most families do!

  11. this morning when i had vegemite on toast

  12. Every morning i wake up and walk outside and see the Aussie flag flying high on my flag pole. When i go to the Dawn Service on ANZAC day and see the old diggers mixing with the younger people and the respect that the younger people show them.

  13. Every single second of every single day is the short answer.

  14. 1.  When Australians donated 500 million dollars or so to the Asian Tusnami relief effort accross dozens of countries surrounding the Indian Ocean.   That was an amazing effort for a country with the population we have (about 20 million people).

    2. When Sydney put on the Olympics in 2000.  Everybody said we couldn't organize a flea market.  Even we had our doubts that the Sydney transport network would be up to the task.   By some miracle we not only surprised the world but even ourselves at just how good we can be when we put our minds to it.  So much so that Aussies have been consultants in the organisation and projects of every Olympics since (including Athens and Beijing).

  15. everyday of my life

  16. All the time it's great country filled with different people but living in the same country. We are laid back we like the outdoors during warmer weather and we love our beaches well most of us do in a way some parts can be considered to alike Miami or a smaller version or California except not as many t.v. studios. I love it here.

  17. Every moment of every day I am proud to call myself Australian. I wouldn't live anywhere else in the world if you paid me! It's a beautiful country with beautiful people and we are incredibly fortunate to live here.

  18. from the day i was born till the day i die ill be a proud Aussie

special times  Olympics  Commonwealth games football tests  when we win cricket  always

  19. Every day of the year.

If I had to choose a particular time there would be a few instances that spring to mind.

    - Every ANZAC Day especially at the Dawn Service.

    - The morning, in 1983,when everyone in the whole country was late for work when "Australia II" won the America's Cup.

    - When Kieren Perkins won the gold medal in the 1500 metres Freestyle at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games. (The race very few thought he could win.)
