If you meant discovered see the great answers above. If you meant founded or set up as in when did we officially become a country - 1867.

  4. No one knows who found Canada, of course when the first people arrived there was no such thing as Canada, nor North America.  Human f***s has been dated back 14,300 years ago recently.  However it is likely that people were here earlier than that.  The country of Canada came into being in 1867 although the country, as it exists today, was not completed until 1949 I believe.

The first provinces in Canada were Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia in 1867.  In 1870 Manitoba and the Northwest Territories becam a part of Canada.  They were followed by British Columbia in 1871, Prince Edward Island in 1873, the Yukon in 1898, and, in 1905, Alberta and Saskatechewan.  The last province to join was Newfoundland in 1949 and, in 1999, the Northwest Territories was split into two with Nunavet as the newest territory.  Today Canad has 10 provinces and 3 territories.

The First Nations are the descendents of the first race to arrive in what is now Canada although the exact point where they started from is still under discussion.  It is also possible that other people came over as well some, according to certain scholars, from as far away as northern Europe.

  5. Canada's "First Nations" are believed to have come from Asia several thousand years ago.  Early viking ruins have been found that are estimated to have been established around 1000 AD.  The first "documented" European arrival in what is now Canada was by John Cabot in 1497.

  6. About 40,000 years ago. The first human settlement in the Americas was in the area of Old Crow in what is now the Yukon Territory. Of course there was no actual country called Canada back then, which wasn't founded until 1867.

  7. Asians crossing the Bering Sea land bridge in about 10,000 bc. were the first people here.

Vikings are usually said to be first europeans to "discover" Canada in about 1,000AD.  They voyaged and even had a settlement in modern day Newfoundland

The first modern euro to discover is John cabot in 1497

The first permanent settlement in canada was Quebec City by Samuel de Champlain. In fact that city celebrates its 400th anniversary this year

  8. I think that it would be more correct to say that Canada was "discovered " rather  than found.

    Jim b. Toronto.
