  1. September 1, 1939

    Germany (Hitler) invaded Poland.

And that came from my mind, not some website.

  2. I believe it was when Hitler invaded Poland In September of 1938.

  3. September 1, 1939 when Hitler started to invade Poland

  4. I think it really became a "world" war in December 1941.

Before that, there was war in Europe, beginning with Germany's invasion of Poland in September 1939.

There was also war in Asia, when in July 1937 Japan invaded China.

When Japan attacked U.S., British, and Dutch territory in the Pacific, the two wars sort of merged into one global war.

  5. it began when Germany invaded Poland (the mass killing of jews by hitler)

it started around 1937 i think

    Ended at 1945 maybe...

  6. WW2 actually started in 1939, when Germany invaded Poland.  The U.S. got involve (officially) on Dec. 8, 1941, 1 day after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor In Hawaii.

  7. Depends on the country.  Germany invaded Poland and Neville Chamberlain said he would declare war if they didn't get out by Sept 1, 1939.  They didn't so he did.  France got in it about the same time although things didn't get hot for them until May 1940.  The US didn't get in until December 8, 1941 the day after Pearl Harbor.  Then Germany declared war on the US.

  8. 1September, 1939, when Germany invaded Poland.  However, some historians say that WWI and WWII are the same continuous war because the end of WWI, the Treaty of Versailles, led to WWII.

  9. America came into it in 1941 with the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

  10. September 1, 1939 - The Beginning of WWII

Hitler had been "allowed" to annex Austria in March 1938 (Anschluss) and was given part of Czechoslovakia at the September Munich Conference taking the rest in March 1939. These acquisitions had not provoked war. But when he dressed a Polish citizen in military garb and shot him at the border, then headed into Poland with a Blitzkrieg, things changed.

This time, Great Britain and France could not stand by. They issued an ultimatum and then, two days later declared war on Germany. Hitler's pact with the Soviet Union, the n**i-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact kept the Soviet Union out of it for a little while, until it became apparent that Hitler wanted more.
