  1. Off the top - of -  my head I would say it  was in 1926 when John Logie Baird first demonstrated his television. Don't know if that  answers your question.


  2. Define broadcast -- it's tough to say when the first one was in that sense.

    Scientists were pretty close to developing a system when World War II got in the way. Everything was put on hold until after that, although there were some programs aired as early as 1939.

  4. If you are talking electronic TV, it was Farnsworth in California in 1923. RCA stole the idea of the camera tube from him. A battle ensued, and Farnsworth won. There were tears shed as the attorney for RCA conveyed the check for $1 million and the contract for royalties.
