  1. Ask Greenpeace. I think during the 70's was when the movement started taking off.

  2. I remember when they were squawking about the coming ice age, back in the early '70's, so sometime after that.  In fact, we've been through this ice age/global warming doomsday cycle a couple, three times since the early twentieth century.

Oops.  Looks like we gave you way more that the four numbers you were looking for.  Sorry.

  3. 1896 (one eight nine six, not a misprint)

  4. The understanding that carbon dioxide was a greenhouse gas and drove climate change has been around since the mid 1890's. And the idea that human emissions of CO2 were responsible for the observed warming came about in 1938.

  5. I'm 21, and I remember first learning about the hole in the ozone layer in around 1992.  It's been at least since then that it has been a risk, probably since the 80s.

Sorry I can't give an exact year; somehow, I doubt there is one.

  6. After the global cooling issue died in the 70's. Then there was the Ozone hole and the reason to change aerosol deodorants and hairspray propellants in the late 70's early 80's along with CFC requirements in HVAC. Late 80's started the current trend in warming weather and trying to relate man's activities with warming trend.

It's not just a 1 year deal unless you ask Al Gore, he's the father of Global Warming and the Internet.

  7. our first clue was during the age of dinosaurs...and we have ignored it ever since

  8. Originally in the 70's.
