  2. I'm not sure but at least Lewis won yesterday. Go Lewis!

  3. Well there were 11 WINNERS in 1982, so it's not quite the most exciting ever, at least not yet. To answer the question, the last time was in 2006 (when there were 12): Alonso, M.Schumacher, Massa, Fisichella, Raikkonen, Button, Montoya, Heidfeld, R.Schumacher, De La Rosa, Coulthard, Kubica.

    As to the most, there were 13 in 2005, 15 in 1997, 13 in 1995, 14 in 1994, 13 in 1989, 13 in 1985, 13 in 1984, 12 in 1983, 18 in 1982, 12 in 1979, 13 in 1978, 14 in 1977, 12 in 1976, 14 in 1974, 12 in 1973, 13 (from only 11 races) in 1971, 15 (13 GPs) in 1970, 12 in 1969, 17 (12GPs!) in 1968; 1960 and earlier have odd results, due to the inclusion of the Indy 500, which adds 3 extra podium finishers each time, but for the record: 15 in 1960, 12 in 1959, 16 in 1958, 14 in 1957. For 1956 and earlier it becomes more difficult due to shared drives...do they count or not...there were 5 shared drives which finished on the podium in 1956 (3 of which won the world title for Fangio). At a rough working, I make it: 12 in 1956, 15 in 1955 (including 7 - SEVEN - on the podium in Argentina), 14 in 1954.

There have also been a lot of years with 11 podium finishers, including 1950, when they came from only 7 races.

So the final answer is 1982, with 18 podium finishers from 16 races.

Useless fact of the day: it was also the youngest podium in F1 history in Germany (average age of the 3 drivers: 24 years, 7 months exactly), beating Hungary 2003 by 13 days!
