By fighting I don't mean pissed up brawls outside night-clubs, I mean being somewhere you might get killed or wounded, such as a platoon commander in Irak or Afghanistan for example. I just wanted to know because apparently theres been loads in the last 200 years.

  1. Prince Andrew - The Falklands War (1980).  He flew helicopters.

  2. Prince Andrew-Falklands.In the thick of it with the rest.

  3. Prince Andrew as a helicopter pilot in the Falklands War and Prince Philip as a serving officer in the Royal Navy throughout WWII.

  4. Yes, it was Prince Andrew in the Falklands Conflict. A fair enough question with everyone giving the correct answer, so why the thumbs down for all the answers? Is it one person who is only able to communicate in this way?  I expect I'll get one too!

Have they found out how to do a thumbs up now as well??

  5. Prince Andrew saw action as a combat pilot during the Falklands War.

Prince Henry (an uncle of Queen Elizabeth) was a career military officer.  He didn't see direct combat, though, as he joined just after World War I and was already a senior officer by the time World War II rolled around.

Prince George, another uncle of Elizabeth, was serving in the Royal Navy when he died in a plane crash in 1942.  Though the crash wasn't a result of combat, because he was on a military mission at the time he is considered a casualty of the War.

  6. Prince Andrew served in the Falklands

  7. Prince Andrew was a fighter helicopter pilot & fought in the Falklands conflict in 1982.

  8. whoa,  every answer is the same. Just to be different....

No, i cant think of any royals that have fought in any conflicts during the past 200years. That being said, I would like to disagree and claim that Prince Andrew DID NOT fly helicopters during the Falklands War.

    Moving on.....

Prince Charles learnt to fly under RAF direction and was qualified as both a helicopter and fighter pilot. He did not, however join the RAF but the Navy where he commanded the HMS Bronington, a minehunter, for 9 months.

Queen Elizabeth (That would be the current queen for those that don't know) joined the Woman's Auxiliary Territorial Service where she trained as a driver and drove military vehicles during World War Two. Despite others having honorary titles, Queen Elizabeth (or Princess as she was at the time.) was the only female member of the royal family to serve in the military.

  9. I might be wrong but Lord Mountbatten was uncle to Prince Charles and served in WWII - he was eventually killed by the IRA during the conflict in Ireland, apologies if I am wrong, maybe someone can put me right?

  10. I almost did

  11. As far as I, personally, can remember, THAT, - particular, - distinction lies with Prince ANDREW, - who was a Royal Navy HELICOPTER PILOT, at the time, of the FALKLANDS war, - between APRIL, and JUNE, of 1982!

If NECESSARY, - which, it NEVER WAS, though, - ONE of his "DUTIES" would have been to have acted as a DECOY, to lure deadly EXOCET missiles, away, from his vessel, - one of TWO massive AIRCRAFT CARRIERS!

  12. The Crown Prince of Grand Fenwick fought in the first Golf War.

  13. Before Prince Harry it was Prince Andrew, who fought in the Falklands with the RAF

  14. Prince Andrew was an operational helicopter pilot for the Royal Navy in the Falklands War against Argentina in 1982 and he was the last one

  15. Prince Andrew was a helicopter pilot in the Falklands war with Argentina, that's the only one I can remember

  16. wwii a royal was killed in the RAF

  17. Person above : I gave a thumbs down to someone who said Andy Windsor served in the RAF when everyone knows it was the Navy. He served on HMS Invincible and was made a Captain in 2001.
