  1. Yep, only Bobby Jones has won it in the same calendar year in 1930. The majors were different back then but he still won the elite tournaments. Tiger's grand slam is referred has a "Tiger Slam", that is, winning all four majors in a row.

  2. Interestingly, there is no British Open Championship... the official name of the tournament is 'The Open Championship' and the winner is awarded, apart from the famous claret jug, the title of 'Champion Golfer of the Year'

  3. Bobby Jones won the grand slam in 1930, but then it was the U.S. and British Opens and the U.S. and British Amateurs.  No one has one the majors in the modern area in the same year.  Tiger Woods won U.S. and British Opens and the PGA Championship in 2000 and won the Masters in 2001 to win four majors in a row.

  4. Tiger woods held all four Majors at once but not in the same calendar year.

It is also interesting to note that there is no such tournament called the US Masters or, for that matter, the US PGA Championship.

This has not, however, prevented British and/or Australian news outlets from calling those tournaments by an incorrect name.
