When was the last time that all 3 drivers on F1 podium were the same nationality?

Just wondered if there have ever been the same 3 flags flown at the podium of an F1 race?

Any sources would be great too.

  1. The most recent one I've found (still looking) was the 1982 French GP, when the 1-2-3 were all French! Arnoux won, with Prost second and Pironi third.

Got another: 1983 San Marino GP, Tambay leading home Prost and Arnoux for another French 1-2-3. Race, 2m40 on the counter, podium ceremony at 3m42: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_b_KN_u-Z...

That's it, I've looked through all the results from the one I knew about in 1982...that race at Imola in 1983 was the last time.

Even the Schumachers, Frentzen and Heidfeld never all got it together at the same weekend, only two of those four ever managed to get on the podium together at any one time. Hill/Coulthard/Herbert/Brundle got close too, but didn't manage it. Other than that it's very rare for three or more drivers from the same country to be in a position to finish on the podium.

There were probably a lot in the 1960s, so I'll just have a look through that to give you a decent list.

    1963:

    Britain: Clark, Surtees, Hill

    1964:

    Holland: Clark, Surtees, Arundell

    Britain: Clark, Hill, Surtees

    1965:

    S.Africa: Clark, Surtees, Hill

    France: Clark, Stewart, Surtees

    Britain: Clark, Hill, Surtees

    1968:

    USA: Stewart, Hill, Surtees

Then there's a LONG gap, until the French arrive in 1980:

    S.Africa: Arnoux, Laffite, Pironi

And then we're back at the first two I mentioned above.

    EDIT

Seeing as I have time on my hands, I'll do the 1950s for you too (I won't bother with the 1950-60 Indy 500s...).

    1950:

    Italy: Farina, Ascari&Serafini, Fagioli

    1951:

    Belgium: Farina, Ascari, Villoresi

    1952:

    France: Ascari, Farina, Taruffi

    Holland: Ascari, Farina, Villoresi

    1953:

    Holland: Ascari, Farina, Bonetto(&Gonzalez)

    1956:

    Italy: Moss, Collins(&Fangio), Flockhart

    1958:

    Belgium: Brooks, Hawthorn, Lewis-Evans

    Britain: Collins, Hawthorn, Salvadori

    Portugal: Moss, Hawthorn, Lewis-Evans
