Well, this wasn't the last time but it stands out. I complemented my sister on how nice she looked after she came home from work. She had tried a new hairstyle and she always dresses really nice for work when she can wear jeans or whatever, which adds to professionalism. She always looks great but she just recently had her second child and her husband is overseas so she doesn't get it a lot, you know? She thanked me the next day or so, saying it's always nice to hear.

And I complimented this office clerk because she was very very busy and was having a hard day, and she got through it, plus she quit smoking and fought off the urge to light one up.

I live in an area which is now preponderantly immigrant muslims.  Never were more beautiful people so plainly dressed. I walked through the mall and saw an average-looking black lady of less than half my age walking like a princess in a dress and matching accessories that would not be out of place at the White House or Buckingham Palace, yet not out of place at the mall either.  Without thinking, I caught up with her and said as I passed by, "Madame, I hope you feel as good as you look, and that's a million dollars." She said something in reply which sounded pleasant, but I was too far ahead to make out the words.
