Splitting the ticket is when you vote for some democratic and some republican candidates. (Voting green, libertarian or another third party doesn't count).

[I did it in the last general election]

  1. I tend to vote straight Republican.  However, my local Sheriff is a Democrat, but I have been much impressed by the way he runs the Department.  So I have voted for him every time since I moved here.

Why doesn't voting Green, Libertarian, or other third party count in this question?  Just curious.

  2. This year will be my first general election vote and I will be splitting the ticket.

    President/VP: McCain/Palin (R)

U.S. Senate: Mark Begich (D) I will be voting against Ted Stevens.

U.S. Congress: it depends, if Sean Parnell beats Don Young in the primaries (it's too close to call) then I'll vote Sean Parnell (R), if not then I'll vote democrat (which would be Ethan Berkowitz) because I do not like Don Young.

State Senate: I will vote democrat because there is only one name/party in the ballot.

State House: I will vote democrat because there is only one name/party in the ballot.

Very split, do I win?  :D

  3. Never.

  4. I've never voted a straight ticket.  I listen to the candidates and vote for the best person for an office, not the party he or she belongs to.

  5. I think it was in 2000, I voted for a Dem for the State House of Reps rather than the Republican, because the Republican was very liberal.

  6. When I voted in Alabama.  The local republicans were very liberal.
