I'm obese and I have to fly alone from North Carolina to Sacramento, Ca. Let's see if they try and make me buy a second seat because of my size (26 in women's pants).

Last week, I had a man I know try to talk me into not fulfilling my dream of getting my art shown in a gallery(he himself was not a gallery manager or owner; he's just an acquaintance of mine).  He told me, with a smile on his face, that I should pursue being a wife and mother.  That way, according to him, I could live without the "worry" of having to do things myself when a good man could take care of me.  When I told him how sexist and rude he was being, he seemed to have no clue as to what I was talking about.

When I lived abroad I used to feel it all the time even though I'm british I was a foreigner there. It makes you see the other side of the coin and treat people better. I think people draw on anything that is different, they are the ones with the problem, shallow is a good word.

I, too am very heavy. Everywhere I go, people snicker, and give you "the look" if you go to a buffet or buy a candy bar. They also assume I have a low IQ and I'm on welfare, when I'm actually very bright, and probably make twice what they do.

It really sucks, because I am the least biased person ever, and having people pre-judge me really chafes my fat azz.

Just lately I'm having a hard time finding a part-time job because I have a degree.  I think a lot of the managers at the retail places I have checked don't hold degrees, and they don't want underlings who are more educated than they are.
