Get yourself a Japanese lover if you want to be treated like a king. Miyuki serves me before she sits down to eat. In the evening, she may sit by my feet and often ask me if I want a beer or something as we watch DVd's. Dad saw such behavior and said I should be ashamed for treating a poor tiny girl in such manner. I told him I'd be mean if I did not allow her to do all that and more.

I'm a travel writer, so the service I get is often on the level of being embarrasing. Managers come out to meet me and offer to carry my luggage. Michelin-starred chefs have cooked for me. I have found chilled champagne in my room. Limos - real ones, not vans - will sometimes pick me up at the airport ...

Now, as glam as that sounds, I do have to do a lot of work to earn that kind of reception. No one wants to focus on the work - but I have days that start with a breakfast meeting at 8 am and can see me touring a dozen hotels, as well as doing some sort of sweat-causing outdoor activity, followed by a formal dinner. You change clothes 2 or 3 times a day, plus work until 10-11-12 midnight. And then I have to spend weeks at home writing about it. There is a price for everything.
