  1. In 1994, the civil war between the moon pigs and the three-eyed worms from the Kuiper belt spilled over in to American politics. The Clinton administration sent some troops from the Peace Corps over, and talked the UN in to sending some peacekeeping forces over, and eventually sorted the whole mess out.

It's called the War of 1812 because the resolution the UN passed to send the troops was resolution number 1812. It was originally called 'The 1812 War' but sort of got jumbled around in the common vernacular.

  2. Never Happened why else give it an inaccurate name.

  3. All these answers are pretty good, but, I have to say that Azathoth takes the cake. What a brilliant imagination. Great answer to a stupid question.

  4. ... Are you serious?

  5. 2003

  6. 1812-1815.  Solved by Treaty of Ghent, early 1815, issues not resolved till treaty of Ashburton, 1842.  The Brits are pretty sure they won, because the war ended with 40,000 square miles of US territory in Brit hands, and not a single US soldier on British soil.
