i heard this song the other day, (any british here, do not take offence)

Go on home British Soldiers Go on home

Have you got no ******* homes of your own

For 800 years we've fought you without fear

And we will fight you for 800 more

If you stay British Soldiers If you stay

You'll never ever beat the IRA

For the 14 men in Derry

Are the last that you will bury

So take a tip And leave us bloody be

So Go on home British Soldiers Go on home

Have you got no ******* homes of your own

For 800 years we've fought you without fear

And we will fight you for 800 more

We're not British, we're not Saxon we're not English

We're Irish and proud we are to be

So **** your Union Jack We want our country back

We want to see old Ireland free once more

is the song referring to freeing the republic or is it not such an old song and referring to northern ireland? (once again no-one take any offence)

  1. try searching about the movie "kings" i remember hearing the song in the movie. its a great song if your going on a rant

**** why did i get a thumbs down im 100% correct, its not an opinion, its fact!****

  2. It is a rebellion song (if you haven't guessed!!). It comes from approx. the late 1960's early 70's. I think it is referring to the Hunger Strike.

It is basically how most Irish were feeling at the time it was written!

However I think early versions of the song were written with slightly different lyrics around 1916

  3. I'd say it's a recent enough song that was probably written about the time of the troubles. But written and sang in the south. Too dangerous to be singing that sort of thing in the north. I think it's refering to the fact that we fought for so long for the republic and we'll fight just as long until we get the north back. I think i may have heard the song before, I deffinately know a tune that can go with the lyrics anyways
