I just thought I'd try for two Chatting Violation Notices in one day...

But anyways...I just talked to yet another wonderful bandwagon Red Sox fan about 20 minutes ago at Walgreens. He was wearing a pristine Boston baseball cap and when I asked him who his favorite player on the Red Sox was he said "Johnny Damon."

Gotta love bandwagon fans. :)

  1. The last time was all last year at school in Boston with a bunch of "hardcore" Celtics fans.  Yeah right.

  2. I can't stand bandwagon fans.

I saw one earlier in the week at Dunkin Donuts saying Clay Buccholz is one of the best on the team....

  3. My worst encounter with bandwagoners was in '92 as I was leaving high school. The Bulls were dominating the NBA, so they had a lot of "fans" in New York.  Me being the loyal Knicks fan, I wasn't too happy about this.

The only other bad encounter I had was this kid I knew in high school. Keep in mind this was '89. His "favorite" teams? The Oakland A's (World Series winners in '89), the Pistons (NBA Champs in '89) and the 49ers (Super Bowl Champs that year). And the kid was from Brooklyn just like me. Talk about something to shake your head to.

But yeah, I've met bandwagon Yankees and Mets fans. But Greta, I gotta admit, there have been far too many bandwagon Sox fans lately. There were way too many when I was living in Virginia in '05. Just awful. They were basically folks who wanted to ride a popular team that wasn't the Yankees. Disgusting.

  4. Wow, that's pretty bad lol.

I can't remember the last time I had an encounter with a baseball bandwagon fan but I can with football. This was back in January about a week before the Superbowl. I was talking to this kid in class and we got into the discussion of football and our favorite teams. He said he was a Steelers fan but didn't really like the coach. Then he went onto say that if the Giants win it all, he is going to become their fan. I don't even think he realized how bad that sounded until he saw the face I made. Then he tried to backtrack and say he always kind of liked the Giants. I wonder if that Monday after the Superbowl, he went and bought a brand new Manning jersey?

  5. My friend's brother at the All-Star Game. He is a Yankees fan.

My friend (his brother) invited me and the bandwagoner invited my brother. What I don;t get about him, is that he changes teams CONSTANTLY IN ALL SPORTS!!!

He used to be a Mariners fan, when they had that unbelievable 110 win season a few years back. And then when the Mariners were eliminated, and the Yankees were in the World Series, he rooted for the Yankees. Too bad they lost, but the Yanks remained his team.

Earlier this season, he was on the verge to being a Rays fan, until now that htre Yankees are heating up a bit. I'll see what tream he supports next year if the Yankees don;t make the playoffs.

Also, he accused Joe Crede of using steroids when he had a good April, Carlos Quentin, Josh Hamilton, Ian Kinsler, and Chase Utley and more of doing steroids. But as a Yankees fan, he never put A-Rod in the mix of that. I don't think A-Rod used them, but I'm surprised he accuses these people and never mentions A-Rod once!

  6. Well that may just happen Greta lol

Lol , well i have not encountered any Bandwagons fans that i can recall

  7. When the Lakers went to the finals,or when Boston was all of a sudden amazing. This years final was full of bandwagon fans.

  8. Hey Greta, as you know living in Florida can be really crazy at times.  This time last year I couldn't find more than a half dozen Rays fans walking around.  Suddenly it impossible to go out and not see at least a 100 men, women and children wearing Rays shirts, caps, jerseys, you name it!  I'll bet you 99 out of that 100 couldn't name three Rays players on their present roster!  Ya gotta love it!!  lol  My last encounter was this morning.......every morning!!  XO

  9. Ha ha, I know what you mean. I live in Las Vegas so there's a fair share of bandwagon fans here. Yesterday, I met a Red Sox fan with an Ortiz jersey who was born and raised in...drumroll... Brooklyn, New York. Isn't that illegal or something?

  10. They were all over the place around here during the Tigers' World Series run a couple of years ago.  I wanted to load up them all onto a big ol' boat & ship 'em off to the middle of Lake Superior until after the season was over.

  11. Loser. He should have said Pedroia.

  12. Last encounter has been the bandwagon Rays fans on here these last few months.

  13. I met a guy who told me his 2 favorite teams were the Raiders and the Chiefs.

  14. I would consider my own mother a bandwagon fan. Especially in football.

  15. HAHA what a loser... How can the BoSox possibly have bandwagon fans? They're always good...
