  1. As someone else said, its a complete myth that we eat any spiders in our sleep. It really was a made up fact to see what people would believe with no proof!

  2. no not that many, maybe in ur entire lifetime, but spiders and other bugs like a nice warm envirnment, and perhaps if there is a spider in ur room and ur mouth is open just a little he might wanna climb in maybe, ive never heard of this to happening to anyone that i know, but my teachers always bring it up, this is true, bc my mom sleeps with her mouth open on the couch bc she stays up all hours of the night on her laptop for college, and onetime me and my dad were watching tv and a fly just randomly flew into her mouth and didnt come back out lol, we had one good laugh, we still call her fly catcher or venis fly trap

  3. i have no clue.

  4. It isn't possible. I've heard that rumor too and after doing some research, I found out its not true. Actually, in the rumor I heard, it said we eat 8 spiders a night. I thought that was silly but thirty is ridiculous. Don't believe a word of it.

  5. The myth that you eat spiders while you sleep was started for a study to see how gullible people are (I'm serious).

We don't eat spiders when we sleep.  It would go against every natural instinct for a spider to crawl into an animal's mouth.  Spiders do try to survive, believe it or not, and those that did crawl into the mouths of sleeping animals are probably instinct.

  6. it's 30 per lifetime..    It's some estimate from people with too much too much time on their hands.

  7. I GUESS THEY CRAWL IN. THIS IS ONE REASON ERIC SLEEPS WITH THE MOUTH CLOSED.

  8. uhh... what spiders?

  9. I heard the average is 4 in your lifetime because the spiders crawling around your house think it's a nice warm cave. Nasty, I know!

  10. We do not eat 30 spiders, first of all you have to have spiders in your house/apt, and second, you would know if you downed 30 spiders, some would bite you and cause an allergic reaction before going into your mouth, or they would bite your mouth/inside your mouth, and you might choke if the spider was big enough.

EDIT: The word is THROAT...stay in school.

  11. Cuz we can't be bothered to make a sandwhich..

  12. No, we don't eat spiders at a 4-spider/hour peg each night. You'd be waking up oddly full each morning.

It's more of a myth than anything else.

    1. Spiders are scared of you.

    2. Spiders stay away from body heat, esp. your 98 degree mouth.

    3. Spiders don't commit suicide. They understand that mammals may eat them.

    4. Spiders stay in the cracks of walls & floors corners. They don't venture out, and always stay close to their emergency wall exit. They are trappers n/ roamers.

Nevertheless, after 80 years of sleep, I'm sure we do eat a few bugs while sleeping.

A FEW at best. I've yet to hear anyone wake up after choking on all these spiders. You would wake up you know.

  13. Either that is bullcrap, or they're microscopic spiders.

  14. A little extra protein never hurts anybody.

  15. this is because most people sleep with there mouths open, the spiders crawl into your mouth and when the reach a certain distance down your throught you atomatically swollow them, its like a reflex.

  16. It's not 30 a night, it's probably closer to five or less a YEAR.

Simply enough, I imagine they're going about their night, crawling about, get caught in the moisture/suction of your mouth and can't escape, thus they are eaten.

  17. I guess thats why I'm always so full when I wake up....

  18. Haha, thirty a night on average?! For every single of the six billion people on earth?

    Use some common sense :]

Take a look at this website ^^ It should help you out.

  19. This isn't true. First of all, I doubt there are 30 spiders in your bed. Second of all, on the off chance that they decide to crawl up to your mouth, they'll be scared off by your breath. Spiders aren't out to get us, and aren't going to kill themselves just to scare us into sleeping with our mouths closed.

  20. its becuz when things die they turn to dust and become air born so really its not really proven

  21. Easy: Urban legend. It simply is not true. Trust me, I looked into it once I heard about it because I have an ridiculous fear of spiders, and didn't sleep for 3 days. Trust me, whoever tells you that is just quoting an old urban legend, it isn't true. Spiders don't just come out out night to crawl in our mouths. If that were true when we wake up in the middle of the night we would feel them in there. lol. Plus we would be picking spider parts out of our mouths every morning!

  22. We do? I'm never sleeping again!!

  23. lloool we dont eat them cos then u would have to crush dem up n u would be awake to do that.

and i think 30 spiders a night is way too much unless ur liviin in a spider pitt which i doubt very much lol

  24. It's '10 spiders a year'. People have said that if you sleep with your mouth open, then spiders crawl into your mouth. It's just a myth, totally NOT true. If you sleep with your mouth open, you breathe through it, and it's wet, don't you think the spider will get scared and find somewhere else to go. How would the spider get on you in the first place?, not many people have beds that are an easy bridge for spiders to crawl on. People move, spiders would get scared.

    Hope this helps!

  25. That's not true at all.

It's around 3 per year.  They just crawl in your mouth and you swallow them without knowing.

    30 a night... HA!

  26. Well, we don't eat spiders. If a spider was to even get on your face you would wake up. So you don't eat spiders.... well, in your sleep anyways.

  27. they crawl down your throght. and its not 30 a night!!!!!! thats imposible

  28. i think it's ` an average human, consumes 3 spiders a YEAR during his sleep`, something like that anyway.

And i`m sure, other people eat worse :d

  29. No. thats too much. If it is 30 then it is in a Month. 30 Spiders a night will def mess up your system. Spiders crawl into your mouth at night to lay eggs, most likely they wont hatch, but you never know.  in conclusion. No, you do not eat 30 spiders a night. jus about 4 or 5 a month.

  30. There is no way we eat a bunch of spiders every night.  Don't believe everything you hear.

  31. ive heard that its on average that its like 3 spiders a year. but its because they crawl into our mouths. i once heard that there is atleast 1 spider every 3 meters or something like that, so thats alot of spiders that could potentially crawl into your mouth while your sleeping
