When we drink something from a can,doesnt it have chances of being contaminated??

like the top part of the can that comes in contact with our mouth,cant it be contaminated?like you know people may be touching it and all.is it safe to drink something from a can??

I've never heard of anyone getting sick from it. But I wash the top off before I drink out of them(gross when you think of what might have got on there).
