  1. they go to a recycling plant that uses them to make more plastic items (including more bags). This process uses less energy and uses less of the worlds resources so it is a good thing to do

  2. Most of them end up in landfills anyway.  If plastics recycling had an economic imperative like metals do, they would be purchasing them at recycling centers.

  3. Sounds crazy but most (like 90%) go to garbage burners around the country.

This recycle thing is not all it's cracked up to be.  But we have to seperate things at the end of the driveway each week  Or you get fined.

I've been to one of those garbage burners (a MASSIVE operation!)  and the trucks were pouring in, dumped their load of garbage, their load of recyclables (cardboard, bottles, plastics, etc.), wood, and on and on.  A huge front-end-loader pushed it ALL -ALL!!!- into the fire.  And the empty trucks went on their way for another load from the nice citizens obeying "the law" that the mayor pushes, probably so he'll look nice at vote time.

  4. I sell products that are made from those plastic bags, so don't believe that they go to landfill.
