When we start using renewable resources, how long until they run out like the oil?

I say if we start using them now and are completely oil independent by 2050 we'll use them up by 2100...no doubt.

Population grow and extreme switch over causing massive usage of them...2100...IF we're lucky!

The solar power plants I am designing are rated for 100 years. They will need maintenance but no major resources. PV is not as good, as the systems can fail within 25 years. Geothermal sometimes cools and you have to let it reheat. Wind is only good if the wind blows but they can now last 50 years, the first systems are now being replaced at 25 years. ethanol can be made as long as we make tractors that can run on it-which only happens in Brazil.

I'm not sure if this is a real question or not, but oil isn't running out and renewable resources by their definition won't ever run out.

well since there renewable theyv cant exactly just go away but i guess with a real stretch it's possible that the raw materials COULD run out although it's highly unlijkely

run out like the oil????????  when did oil run out??????  you kids have been claiming oil is about to run out for forty years but it never happens.  when are you going to realize that oil is a renewable resource

lol that is a hilarious question.  Look up the term renewable.  Oh and the gas is and will run out, it's a scientific and mathmatical certainty if we continue to consume it at this rate.
