When were 5 digit phone numbers in use? What year?

I greatly appreciate the answers I received so far. To be more specific, I am looking for a year when 5-digit numerical phone numbers were used. Thank you.

That was in the 60's.  I found some notes in my grandmothers writing for

GS845, it was her sisters phone number.

I do not remember when the phone numbers were 5 digits, but in the 60's, there were only 6 digit phone numbers.
