When were basket meals first introduced into pubs in the UK?

When were basket meals first introduced into pubs in the UK?

They didn't happen simultaineously accross the country. It was late 60s in the West but a few years later in the Home counties. Don't know about the North.

What's happened to them? I haven't seen "chicken/saussage & chips in the basket" in a pub for years?

Have the Health & Safety police got at them?

They had chicken in the basket about 1970.

They were served at the Wakefield Theatre Club in the late 60's  Scampi and chips...Mmmmm

I remember having them in the 70's although the soup in the basket was a bit messy
