When were clackers made?

When did they stop being popular? Whoever gets this will get free online cookies!!!

I think 1902 -1916. I am only taking a wild guess, Dad remembers playing with them,and he was born in 1916. I was pretty close,early 1920's. I remember my older brother playing with Dads wooden ones. Dad took them away from us of course.

I don't know when they were officially released, but Clackers came out in my hometown when I was in 4th grade, I think.  That would have been sometime during the 1971-'72 school year.  They quietly disappeared a few years later, probably in '75 or '76 or so.  In 1976 in the US, lots of fading fads fell by the wayside in light of the US Bicentennial celebration.  My mom was a little concerned about how the Clackers bruised my elbow pretty badly, so she sewed a little strap-on pillow to protect my elbow.  Worked great!
