  1. The 1st railroad in the US was made in 1869. I think in Utah

  2. The first actual railroad was built in 1804 by Englishman Richard Trevithick who designed a miniature steam railway for a tin mine that included a locomotive that pulled tin-laden cars weing ten-tons along a 10 mile road.

In 1825 the first passenger train was formed in England. The train ran between Stockton and Darlington and was quoted to be no more than a shed on wheels. In 1825 the Stockton and Darlington Trains were pulled by horses and about 1830 George Stephenson invented the Rocket, Which soon replaced the horses. The first U.S. Railroad was indeed the B&O with their famous "Tom Thumb" locomotive. It was started by several wealthy Baltimore Business-men The first run of the B&O was in 1836, I believe.

  3. England I think around Manchester.  I would imagine Wales had some early ones too.  For the USA, it would be the Baltimore & Ohio in Virginia.
