Question:

When were theatre tickets invented?

Does anyone have any clues as to when theatre tickets with the seat number (or letter and number combination) printed on them were first issued?

I'd be interested in information about anywhere in the world, but particularly how the practice spread in Europe.

Many thanks.

  1. IN ancient India during the harappan civilasation time, ie. roughly 2900 B. C. to 1500 B.C. at the farthest tip of Rann of Kutchh is this famous historical site of Dhola Veera. Here when I visited, I found a whole chariot and horse racing track, in  a very large scale for the people to participate. Obviously even there also some sort of ticketing system will be in vogue.
