When / what will happen when the oil runs out?

By then, we'll have bases on Mars and Jupiter.  Obviously, we will then have a less expensive energy source developed.

We will have been on alternative energy for decades by then, so I guess we'll be selling Bio fuels to the Saudis!!

Plug in cars. Bio Diesel, Hydrogen fuel cells.

As long as the cost per mile to use gasoline and diesel is less than any other fuel we will continue to use gasoline and diesel.

The best future answer would be hydrogen.  With only modifications to the fuel induction system and a larger capacity cooling system the engine in your current car could run on hydrogen.

We will never run out of oil. As the supply goes down the price will go up and consumption will go down.

There will always be oil, as you can get fuel from plant oils. We will go increasingly to nuclear power and electric cars. Also, wind, solar, and geothermal power will be a bigger part of energy production in the USA.

It will take the oil moguls 1 week to come up with an alternative. Nobody is interested in an alternative atm, sadly.

Water fueled cars look very promising.

There's enough oil in the world to last 100 + years. By then alternatives will be available, but they aren't now so we need to drill in the U.S. and stop depending on oil from the opec countries.
