This is the bill H.R. 2642 . The one the House already approved , and last night the Senate passed. I would just like to know how long Bush will take to sign this? How long will people in Michigan have to wait to receive a check?

  1. Even if the President signs this bill, it would not become an enforceable federal law for at least 90 days and the states would still need to make adjustments to their unemployment programs. It could take several months to a year.

  2. He probably won't.  What is the bill, a handout to michigan voters ?

  3. Hopefully never.

  4. well, i dont know, but has commissioner Gordon put on the Bat-signal yet~!!!

this bast*d want's all our money used to set up the Middle Eastern Empire him and his crew has been workin on for quite a while~!!!

i just read today that they stalled the Housing bailout issue until after a week vacation, then they will come back to argue over it again~!!!

    hang in there~!!!

  5. As of right now the bill has been signed by the president.

  6. The President is expected to sign the bill sometime next week.  The filing requirements are different from state to state based on your states requirements.  In most cases the states will send out forms, or make them available online.

YOU WILL need to reapply since these benefits are federally funded and do contain some different qualifications from those of your state.    If your benefits have run out you will need to reapply and if you are collecting benefits there should not be a break in benefits.

Also if your benefits have run out it may take up to three weeks before you begin to receive checks after submitting the new application form.

  7. At the very bottom of this post I've pasted the text of the Presidents support of the bill for anyone questioning whether or not Bush will sign the bill

There was action on the extended unemployment bill last night in the Senate (The 26th )

The Senate approved the 13 week extension last night before going on vacation

It will go to the President by next week. If he doesn't drag his feet (and he probably

won't he will because he is almost out of war money), he will sign it and you should

get a letter within 2 weeks to start calling in for your extended benefits.

IT WILL NOT TAKE 90 DAYS IT WILL GO IN EFFECT IMMEDIATELY (3 WEEKS MAX TO GET CHECKS

One tip to use when searching is to make sure you use the advanced features (Google) and specify Last 24 hours but I've even seen major news sites being wrong on the details

    Here are the criteria !

    It's 13 extra weeks long

You must have worked at least 20 weeks before getting laid off

This is approved for all states.

Must have exhaused your regular unemployment within 1 year ( I believe, I read somewhere it was after Nov 06 but I'm

not sure about that without reading further.

I suggest we all email and call all those in the House and Senate that willingly voted for this and thank them , We all complain when they do bad things We should show our appreciation when they do whats right. And I don't want to hear from anyone complaining about handouts or other B.S your opinions are worthless and I dont respect the source or your right to spout them to people who are financially burdened And all I can do for you is hope you lose your job someday so you can see how it feels, and when you do think back to when you wrote your nasty B.S to all the people here who are really hurting. My father used to say " If you don't have something good to say then say nothing at all" Thats what smart people do. We wouldn't be in this situation if we didn't export all our manufacturing jobs to China and other 3rd world countrys. Yes it all revolves around Buying from China and nothing more (Thru Walmart and the remaining bunch like them ) So if you want your jobs back eventually start reading the tags on the items you buy, And don't be fooled by the words "Assembled in the USA" That means it was made in China and put together in the U.S . Usually because they can't be trusted to build anything that lasts. The reason China's economy is booming is because of Manufacturing the jobs we once had. When you buy from China you take another job from the U.S and give it to someone in China. Unity is where it's at ! If everyone refused to buy foreign made c**p we wouldn't be in this situation. Did you ever buy an Item only to find it didn't work right out of the box ? China, Lead paint, Poisened pet food the list is endless. And you know the good old U.S government when they start saying the economy is "Down" were screwed it's 100 times worse in reality than what they tell you. ! I truely hope this added money saves some of you from losing your cars and homes, And use the time to try to find something or move to where there is work in your field temporarirly.

    EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT

    OFFICE OF MANAGEMENT AND BUDGET

    WASHINGTON, D.C. 20503

    June 19, 2008

    (House)

    STATEMENT OF ADMINISTRATION POLICY

    H.R. 2642 – Supplemental Appropriations Bill of 2008

The Administration supports House passage of H.R. 2642 because it is consistent with the

principles laid out by the President for an acceptable bill. H.R. 2642 provides our troops the

resources they need, does not micromanage our military commanders, and stays within the

President’s reasonable discretionary spending limits for FY 2008 and FY 2009.

The Administration would have liked to see some of the provisions in the bill considered either

on their own or in legislative vehicles not associated with troop funding. However, the

Administration supports the decision to provide our men and women in uniform with a GI bill

benefit that includes the President’s State of the Union transferability proposal. This provision

allows military personnel to transfer unused GI education benefits to their spouses or children.

The Administration is pleased this bill does not include any tax increases and that Congress did

not enact a full moratorium on all seven Medicaid regulations. However, the Administration

calls on Congress to do more to address the very serious issue of waste, fraud, and abuse in this

    important health care program.

On June 17, 2008, the President called for additional funding for disaster relief in the United

States in light of recent flooding in the Midwest. The Administration appreciates Congress’

response and allocation of $2.65 billion for disaster-related accounts to ensure that resources are

available for the Federal government to respond to future disasters.

Today marks the 500th day since the President requested funding for our troops. The

Administration calls on Congress to complete consideration of this legislation quickly and clear

it for the President’s signature without amendment.

  8. I am not really sure where Pat gets his information. It will not take 90 days to a year to get your extention. I spoke with unemployment today, and if you are receiving benefits at this time and you are nearing the end of your compensation all you need to do at this time is to continue claiming your weeks.

You will receive a letter in the mail from unemployment, but continue claiming your weeks.

If ever in doubt just call them.
