  1. Yeah right.. China is no fool.. They know that if they delink from US and allow their currency to rise, they'll see all those factories pumping out widgets close down and foreign investment go elsewhere, like Vietnam.


  2. It is delinked. The dollar has steady been falling against the Yuan now since they delinked it a few years back. In the last 2 years the Yuan has already increased its value relative to the dollar by 20%. It will continue its appreciation because inflation is out of control in China and its brought on by their dollar policy.

  3. Very interesting and controversial question.  The short answer (I think) is "no time soon."  Despite the weakening US Dollar (and thus, the Weakening Yuan), China has a lot to be gained politically from the linkage.  There are also questions about their ability to maintain a central bank at this point.

    China may be a rising superpower, but they aren't there yet.
