  1. That's hard to say. Only if the US lifts the embargo, then maybe US citizens can travel to Cuba legally and without special permission. Other than that, no one can say. I'm assuming you read the news article today about Fidel Castro's resignation? But irregardless, it will depend largely on the US side. It's not Cuba refusing, it's the US.

  2. Cuba is open - it's the US that won't let you.

The travel restrictions could well be loosened before the embargo is totally ended. Especially if Obama wins.

  3. It certainly won't happen while Bush is in office.

Once he's gone.. give it 18 months to 2 years before things start changing.

  4. Nobody can look into the future, we only can guess.

The Castro era is ending but do not expect major changes the first years.

There will be changes but very slowy .

Keep in mind that the Cubans are afraid of a US dominance, they still remember the times before the revolution , when the mob , Meyer Lansky and others ruled in Havana and Cuba.

Even with the lifting of the embargo , things will not change very much.

I expect that the Cubans will allow only a limited quantity of US citizens to Cuba . They don't want to be overwhelmed by Cuban Americans (more than a milj in Miami)

But if you want to travel to Cuba , no problem with a license of the OFAC see : http:www.treas.gov you can go.

An other possibility but this is illegal is to travel through

Cancun ( Mexico) or Toronto (Canada). An estimted 100,000 US citizens did this already but it's not legal , when you are caught you can get a fine up to 1000, 000 $ or up to 10 years of prison.

  6. At that day when the USA will take off the embargo against Cuba, and tolerate that every nation has the right to go its own way. The US are not the judge of the world.

  7. when the U. S.lifts the embargo and stops putting additional conditions in every move they make.
