Here's the problem that I am facing right now. I'm going to be a nineth grade student next school year, and I am one of those people who likes to think WAY into the future. I'm planning to go to Japan for a foreign exchange trip for a year in 10th grade. The only problem with this is that the Japanese school year starts in April, so I will be spending about 7 or 8 months of 10th grade in the United States, and then when it is time to come back, I will be spending about 7 or 8 months of 11th grade in Japan because of the huge school year difference. The way that I look at it, I'm screwed. I'm probably not going to be getting all the credits that I need, and not going to Japan is not an option. How can I fix this? Also, when I have the time to apply for colleges? The very last few months of 11th grade? That sounds a little risky to me. Can I apply for college when I'm in 10th grade, or is that way to early? Please help me! I'm going crazy right now.

  1. You apply to college the FALL of your senior year.  Being out of the country your junior year wouldn't effect your ability to apply.

Talk to your current school and see what would be necessary for you to graduate on time.  That's the number one priority.

You will probably want to take the SATs while in Japan.  They are offered all over the world.  Check the college board website.
