Question:

When will I get my NY state driver's license?

I applied for an online renewal of my driver's license on May 2nd because I am turning 21 (yay) Tuesday and the NYS driver's license expires on your 21st birthday. I looked up online at the NYS DMV site and it says the mailing date is my birthday (June 10) which makes sense to me but does that mean the new license will arrive at my house on my birthday, or are they going to start mailing it on my birthday (which means it won't arrive at my house until the next day or so). The problem of them mailing it on my birthday is that I will be holding an expired license and my buddies and I are planning to go to a bar for my birthday and I am afraid they are not going to accept my expired license even though it clearly states my birthdate. So does any one know if it will come to my house on my birthday or a day later. Thanks.

  1. With NYS they make no promises.

You can always go directly to the DMV office and renew it in person.  Even if you already sent it through the mail, you can say that you didn't get it (and give you a replacement -assuming it got lost).

Other than that you have to wait.

    Good Luck.

P.S.  You can use expire license as proof of birthday.  It is just not valid as driver's license.
