When will I get my tax money for the past years?

Me and my husband never filed ou previous taxes (every year before 07).

So we got them done and we sent them out last week.

How would I know when im going to get it deposited into my account?

How would I know that they received them?

Processing previous tax returns take 6-12 weeks for processing.  the refund for previous years are mailed not deposited, because previous tax returns are manually processed.  

Contact the phone number listed on your letter from the IRS that requested  you to file the returns and they will let you know if hte returns were received, and you should call at least 4 weeks after you mailed the returns,  It takes at least 3-4 weeks for the information to show up on IRS computer as receipt.

You can still receive any refunds due for Tax Years 2005 though 2007.  Anything from Tax Year 2004 or earlier is lost forever since refunds must be claimed within 3 years of the filing deadline for the tax year in question.

Allow 4 to 6 weeks for processing and deposit of your refunds.  Things are running slowly this year due to the rebate fiasco, so be patient if processing runs longer than usual.

2005 and 2006 will be checks.

2007 would possibly be direct deposited.

For 2007 only, the where's my refund program at the IRS will be useful.  Until the tax return gets far enough into the system to be begin processing, it will say "no information."  Then as the tax return passes various stages, the program will start estimating the day of your refund.  

When I sent a paper return in March, no news for 3 weeks, then estimate 3 weeks later...then, updated to 2 days later.
