  1. you learn after you get screwed..hahah..talk to someone who has experience..

  2. there isn't much to know, unless you have a lot

  3. You start right now!

I just started a website specifically for people like us, who have no idea where to find these kinds of resources.

I suggest starting with reading the books I have reveiwed, you can find them here

    http://btgnow.net/pages/reviews.html

(definitely check out the personal fiance books I have reviewed).

In time there will also be more articles on financial topics, for now there are two very good ones, which you can find here

    http://btgnow.net/pages/perfina.html

I update witha new article at least once a week, s be sure to stop by frequently or sign up for the mailing list if you want to keep informed!

BUT BE SURE TO READ THOSE BOOKS!

    Good luck!

  4. Check out http://www.daveramsey.com.  He has a radio show and podcast that is all about personal finance.  His site also has answers to many questions about taxes, home purchase, etc.

  5. You will learn all about money by being curious and asking questions.

Dave Ramsey is good, you also might want to check out wikipedia.com - there is tons of good information there already and more is added every day.

I took my first tax course when I was 16 and bought a home on my first pay-day. Experience is a great teacher.

The "financial person" is not the most reliable source of information. They know a lot but they make money by selling your financial products. Some are more concerned with their own interests, than with yours....
