  1. India some day will become the biggest super power in everything known to man so I think that some of the other countries should start to get afraid as India are going to get bigger and better in everything and that also includes sport. Long live India. Chak de Phatte India.

  2. Mate, communism doesn't keep corruption in check, it spreads corruption!

But what communism does do is that it removes the cost of democracy. You don't have to hold meetings about meetings to get a bill passed through. The Chinese leaders just do it, and it's paying off economically. As people have money in their pockets, they can put up with the corruption.

  3. India is at a disadvantage because it's such a poor country. There are many other issues that need to be addressed that are higher priorities.

With that being said, I believe with so much of the US technical services being outsourced to India that this will help. The problem is that India needs to be able to also be a "player" in the manufacturing market before they can address enough of its infrastructure and economic issues.

I'm not sure if we will be alive when this happens as these types of changes will take time.

I love the Olympic games and what they inspire all athletes, countries, peoples to do. However, they do not take precedent over feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, and addressing the medical needs of the uninsured.

I hope India will become a sporting power, but not until its social needs are met better.

    Thanks for the question.

    Enjoy!

  4. Probably not. India as a whole doesn't seem to care much about the Olympics. There is nothing wrong with that. China is OBSESSED with the Olympics. It's all starts from how much money gets dumped into your countries Olympics sporting establishment.

Also, to the dude below me, why should countries 'be afraid' of India becoming a superpower? lol. I thought what was good for one country was good for the world? America and China have been helping each others economies for years. GM sells more cars in China now than in the US. That's awesome. Our companies would not have these opportunities if it wasn't for the prosperity of China. likewise, China may not be as prosperous as it is today if they weren't selling so much of their products in the US. It's a win-win situation to have more 'superpowers' in the world (As long as they aren't causing trouble like the USSR or n**i Germany). Then maybe the US can stop feeling liek it has to clean up everyone elses messes in the world. Maybe China can supply the majority of relief efforts around the world when there is a disaster of epic proportions. The Us and China are very much equals and are very much business partners in the world. What's good for them is good for us.. and vice versa. Any Chinese or American businessman man who is worth his salt will tell you that. I see India in the same light. They are also a developing country. But their prospect of future prosperity is hardly a bad thing for the rest of the world. It will open up new markets, that's a good thing.

  5. when they get that dude with the bunch of arms to play.

  6. Probably not, simply because of the extreme corruption that is almost everywhere. It is like a way of life in India.

China has communism to keep corruption in check so India will have to think of something else, as it will never be communist.

In short India needs to take things seriously. Indians act so blasé about almost everything. I once saw an Indian student cross a busy road just a few metres from the designated crossing in Melbourne (Australia) and she was obviously hit by a car. I stopped my car and eventually met the husband and his best friend who casually chatted about finding an apartment to rent...all the while his wife is laying there in need of serious medical attention...not a care in the world!

India needs to lose that casual psyche and get busy.

  7. I really don't know.  I was surprised when I heard how few athletes came from India when it's such a huge country.  I guess it has to work out a lot of other issues before it can be a real contender.

  8. India will never be coz they lack the Infrastructure and if India really wants to be power again they have to be colonized again if possible by China.

  9. india is still a poverty stricken nation, its almost as poor as ethiopia! just look at the mud house slums which account for about 90% of the entire indian population! china is a developing country which does not have much poverty!

  10. Olympics gold are not won by chance. It takes a deliberate and focussed effort to top the medal count, as well as lots of money.

At the moment, i don't see India having the money nor the will to do this.

  11. India, will be a super power, but maybe not in sport - you may not be alive to see it!!!
