When will Jeff Gordon get championship # 5?

He will get a fifth. Under the old rules he would already have 6 championships, going for a 7th. I have great respect for every driver with any championship, but I believe Jeff Gordon will have 6 championships by retirment, possibly 7.

If it weren't for the ridiculous Chase, Jeff Gordon would already have 5 championships – heck, he'd actually have 6! Then we'd all be counting the days until he got number 7 and tied Sr. and Richard Petty for the most.

It's just a matter of time before Jeff gets his 5th championship. There's a reason he's considered one of the top 5 drivers EVER. Once again, he proved that last weekend. The man started last and still managed a top 10 finish (and he would have had a top 5 if not for the last caution).

Rest assured, he'll have AT LEAST 5 by the time he retires.

I wish he would too, but I don't think he will. He is such a great driver, but the COT and with Toyota in the mix... the playing field is leveling again. It will be tough to repeat. The only way is if J.J. and Jr. work with him on the track, but I just don't see it happening.

He will certainly get another championship before he retires.  And you can not count him out this year.  He is great race car driver and i believe he will get into the chase this year and maybe contend for the cup.

It doesn't look good this yr so far, but theres lots of racing left, I'm sure he will get his 5th championship before he retires, maybe next yr, it all depends on how long he plans to drive but I'm sure he wants that 5th before he retires..
