  1. to the first comment Alves is in a diffrent weight class. his title shot would be against GSP. KENFLO would have to fight BJ Penn. And he is next in line to do so, But the more exciting fight to see would be BJ Penn and GSP. Win or lose for Penn he will still fight KENFLO after that. so probaly early next year.

  2. Florian has already said that he is not going to wait until BJ fights GSP before he fights again so depending on the outcome of the Thiago/Diego fight they will probably face Florian which will then decide who faces Penn, but it doesn't really matter I think because Penn will probably tool any of them no matter which one faces him.

  3. More than likely at the beginning of next year. They are going to set the GSP vs. Penn fight for Dec. So, that will put Florian from getting a title shot until probably March/April. Florian has already stated that he wants to keep fighting so expect to see him one more time before he gets his title shot. Dana has already stated that the winner of the Florian vs. Huerta fight would get the next title shot. So, I think Florian will fight someone but not another top contender.

  4. Since BJ Penn wont shut up about GSP I think Dana White will get that fight this year, and Kenflo will have to wait, he may infact have to destroy someone else before he gets another shot, no one in MMA is more deserving at this point, but now that BJ Penn is actually training again he thinks he can do whatever he wants. I dont think it matters to Florian, I dont think anyone other than Penn will give him trouble.

also for some of the previous answers Alves and Sanchez are Welterwieghts, not lightweights.

also GSP will tool BJ Penn standing, he has way to much reach and far better kicking and striking in general, and I dont see BJ Penn taking GSP down against his will. BJ is great on the ground but not getting to the ground. Unless GSP is dumb enough to take Penn down he will win easily, I dont know why people think Penn is a great striker since the Sherk fight, he out jabbed a wrestler with a broken hand, its not like his last name is Silva.

Unless GSP takes it to the ground he will pick BJ apart with his striking and win on points.

  5. If Thiago Alves dominates Diego Sanchez, he might get the shot over Florian.  Anything less than domination from Alves, and Florian will get his shot after the Penn/St. Pierre rematch.

  6. I don't know... the UFC is funny about who and when they give title shots to. Whoever will draw the biggest audience is the person who will get the shot. Right now, GSP vs. Penn will be a money fight. So that's Penn's next opponent, more than likely. After that, he's going to have to defend that title. Florian is the only LW who is deserving of it. He's also one of the few that can present a problem for Penn. I think that their standup is comparable. Florian's Muay Thai will cancel out Penn's much improved boxing. The ground will make the difference. I don't think Florian could control Penn on the ground. He definitely can't submit him. I don't think Penn would sub Ken-Flo, but he could pound him out. Penn's conditioning might be the only thing that Florian could take advantage of. But Penn has worked on that as well. I think it could be a great match, if it happens.
