This is the second year that Kyle has taken 6 races off to to comentary for TNT. Has he gave any indication of when he will call it quits for good? Who would be in line to replace him? Chad McCumbee? I have always been a fan of Kyle's but given his age he can't race for much longer.

  1. In my opinion, I think he will retire next year or in 2010. I can't see him still driving in NASCAR past 2010.

  2. He is looking for the right driver to take over the driving duties.

He is planning to retire but this could be anytime in the next 2 or 3 years.

  3. I'm kind of confused as to what his status is currently..

    Part-time I suppose?

As long as he doesn't turn into Mark Martin..I like Mark, but that man has no idea what he wants..

He was already supposed to be 'retired' once or twice.

But hopefully Kyle retires soon..at the same time though that scares me because I do not like him in the booth..

    He is obnoxious..

The lesser of two evils I suppose..

    lol..

  4. I like Kyle but he should have already quit and concentrated on running the business instead of trying to race. The organization needed major restructuring and has finally came down to a sell  out/partnership (I guess is how they labeled that business deal) of Petty Enterprises.

  5. I'd like to see Kyle retire on his 1,000 start (he's not too far from that goal).

He might not be a top brass driver theses days, but I like having a Petty in the field. As long as he qualifies for races I'll still support him.

  6. well since he just turned 48....he still has some race years left in him.  He is younger than Mark Martin and he is still driving.

The thing is Kyle hasn't done very well for several years.  Well the night he announced his retirement...didn't he come in 3rd in that race???    I believe he did announce retirement but like Mark...not really retiring.

  7. Don't know his immediate plans but it would be interesting to see him in a quality ride. Richard needs to get off of that fat wallet of his and inject some $$$$ into his teams, if not they are doomed to be also-rans.

  8. His performance is going downhill quickly

maybe he'll retire at the end of this year

  9. very very soon!

  10. Well I think when it becomes impossible to fund his team or when he just doesnt want to race anymore. He is doing a part time schedule but I think that each year he will just race fewer races until he only runs a few and he will basically be retired. Its been his time for a while but he just doesnt want to admit it.
