I've become a fan of her recently and it was nice to see her make a little run at Wimbledon after mediocre 2008 results, but it was really disappointing to see her lose today in a match she could have (and maybe should have) won. Is she Grand Slam title material? I noticed the grip on her forehand shot is extreme and unconventional and she seemed to make tons of errors from that side. Is this the source of most of her unforced errors usually (she had 39 today!) and is it something she should change? Also, what about her fitness and mentality? I remember she had match points in big matches against Kuznetsova at the 2006 French and Ivanovic at last year's Wimbledon and she lost both matches.

  1. i really would like to see her have a breakthrough.. i do not think she is a total lost cause.... but she has had some big letdowns and terrible chokes!

i am not sure what its going to take.. not sure really.........

i am sure she will get to where she needs to go....

  2. She spends to much time sleeping with the men on tour instead of  playing tennis.  She was engaged to at least two of them so far and she is only 19 years old.  Also she has the most temper.  She is ignorant and fusses a lot on the court plus her head is not good either. She fired her step father as her coach and a lot of other distractions.   It's too bad because she has talent.

  3. Shes still young and has talent to burn so lets hope she can make a mental and phsical change.

In all fairness rafael nadal has an extreme grip but i can see where your coming from if she is making mistakes on that side then she should technically have a look at the shot.

Lets hope this loss will have hilighted some major issues she has to work on and does work on for the us open.

(as you can see im a fan of her!!)

    :)

  4. She is a total hottie.  She probably has the nicest legs and figure on the women's tour. http://www.advantage-tennis.com/vaidisov...

I hope she breaks through, but she's sort-of a pychopath on the court.  She's got the talent, the big serve, but she's like the female version of Marat Safin, and she implodes mentally.

Nadal uses an even more extreme grip on his forehand, but he never ever misses, so I wouldn't blame it on the grip she uses.

I think the one thing she could improve is her footwork.  Some bigger, more leggy players tend to have trouble with this.  She starts to miss her forehand, because she starts to get sloppy with her movement and stops setting-up properly for it -- and then she opens her body (rotates into the shot) too much, too soon on it.  She's also a little off-balance on a few forehands, lunging too much in one direction or the other.  If her movement was better, she'd be more balanced and poised for every shot.

Nadal has the most extreme grip, but his movement is also awesome.  I think movement is really what seperates the top players from the rest.

  5. never!

  6. She's still young and has reached at least the fourth round of all four grand slam.  For sure she has the potential to break through.  With the fact that she's only 19, improvement of mental strength and consistent performance are all what she needs for the break through.  I think she'll break through when she gain enough experience.  Look what Ana Ivanovic had gone through before claiming her first grand slam and world no.1 title?
