I thought they had merged over 7 months or so ago? I am stuck in a contract with XM for a year but I want to switch to Sirius now because they have channels I like better. I don't want to get out of my contract and get a new device if they are going to soon have all of the stations for both available to me through my XM device.

  1. They actually haven't merged yet, about 7 months ago they proposed the idea, but nothing has been finialized and it will probaly be a long time before it's finial, assuming it actually does happen.  As for programming when/if it does happen, nothing has been anounced. I would think they wouldn't have everything from both XM & Sirius, as u don't need 8 country music stations...

  2. The merger hasn't happened yet.  It's expected to happen by the end of the year.

If you keep the XM receiver you have now, you will have the chance to get all your XM channels plus 11 pre-selected Sirius channels.  This will cost about $16.99/month I believe.

If you buy a new, post-merger radio, you can get Sirius channels + XM channels through and a la carte plan in which you would select 100 channels from a combination of both services.

One radio won't be able to pick up every Sirius and every XM channel.
