  1. WHEN people like you realise there is NO NATIONAL comp without the Vic's,and also playing the GRAND FINAL away from the M.C.G would be like running the Melbourne cup at Randwick-what a joke,id suggest if you have no understanding for the history of AFL and how it came to be then shhhhhhhh!

edit: insight it was the VFL that went national under ross Oakley and brought other teams from interstate into it so why wouldn't it consist of the existing Vic sides?

  2. When will people like YOU realise if it was not for VIC you would never be able to watch such a great league as the AFL.

And VIC has more teams cos thats where the fans and the money is, WAKE UP SUNSHINE.

  3. The MCG has a contract with the AFL for the Grand Final.  It wouldn't matter who was playing, they would have to play there.

If the Mexicans want to be insular, then that's their problem.  They will feel it even more when clubs have to merge, relocate or die

  4. its not fair that they should always play the grand final over in victoria, what about the other states and those who cant get to the game cos they cant afford the cost of tickets and the flight/accommodation.

and as for collingwood they are the most molly coddled side in the comp and they still suck.

that same preferential treatment isn't shown to the rest of the league outside of  Victoria.

the AFL tribunal should make the competition more fair for the rest of the country.

  5. They already do realise this, however, they refuse to accept it.

In all fairness though Victoria may be small in area but it is still the second most populous state in Australia. I have extrapolated a fair number of teams for Victoria (based on population of AFL states and excluding the low interest states of Qld & NSW) and came up with one team for every 550,000 people. Vic could therefore stand to lose 2 teams. WA has one third the population of Victoria so it could gain one team (or even 2) and Tasmania should have one.

The problem dates back to when the AFL was created and all Victorian teams were automatically allowed in. Now none of them want to give up their 'history'. If the AFL teams were all created new then the Victorians would not have an opportunity to whine so much when the AFL board threatens to move an old VFL team out of Victoria.

  6. X man is right. Melbourne is the home of football and the MCG is the home of football. The VFL was the major league of footy, WAFL and SANFL were the minor leagues. Now the AFL is the big leagues.

Collingwood only goes interstate 4 times a year. The reason is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

I am an American I understand AFL-VFL footy.

  7. i agree

  8. i agree

we need more real men in the nrl

the inter state afl should convert to nrl

  9. It'll take at least anouther decade before they realize.

  10. They realize it now but wont concede.

Victoria is slipping further behind every year. Look how it is only them that is resisting the two new teams in NSW & Qld.

    Bye bye Vics.....You are also-rans.

  11. Yeah i think all Victorians have known for a while that it is called AFL and not VFL....

Gee Victoria will always be the home of football mate, why try and take it away from them?..Yeah we maybe the smallest state but boy, dont we have the talent...

Try and take the grand final away from Melbourne and see just how many people do turn up to watch it..

The MCG is the home of football and will always be the home of the Grand Final.i honestly could'nt think of a ground that could hold what the MCG holds anyway...

  12. ok......

lets try to fit a grand final in to the GABBA! 35 000 seats....be sold out in seconds

    or.....AAMI STADIUM!...but wait...there's only 40 or 50 000 seats there too!

or....SUBIACO!....wait, only as big as AAMI stadium

or...SYDNEY OLYMPIC PARK, that has 80 000 seats!....but hang on, the swans wont be grand finalists EVERY year!

I HAVE GOT IT!!! TELSTRA DOME!! but hang on a minute, thats in Victoria!

so......the MCG is the only place LARGE ENOUGH to hold the grand final.....its tradition, the grand final parade, the grand final breakfast....everything.

Im a queenslander, I just cant see a grand final at the Gabba....its packed to the rafter at an Elimination final!

  13. The MCG is like the home of AFL. get over the fact that your state is too dumb to come up with anything of its own yet.... that is if you dnt live in Victoria then i take that all back coz obviously it dsnt apply to you. and leave the magpies alone. i dont think its they're fault that they dont play anywhere else besides victoria.

  14. I never called it the VFL

  15. Victoria invited you into the vfl then it became the AFL

Victoria knows it the AFL because they invented it!

Home of football you said it 100,000 seats

where else would you like it

the only reason why you want collingwood to play interstate is that the game will sell out and your club will profit from the most famous AFL club in the world

  16. well i have the same views with the fact that vic thinks it is still the vfl (well collingwood anyways), but the MCG is sorta the home of football, it was where footy was first played and where hundreds of thousands of people have gone to watch football. i completely agree with collingwood playing out of victoria. they are the most looked after team, they have everything handed to them on a platter

  17. I can see your point but think about it for a minute, the AFL was born from the VFL, all teams in the VFL have a right to be in the AFL, other teams were added, you didn't lose your state comp, we did!

If i had my way i would change it back in a flash.

Where would the grand final be played? other ground don't hold more then 50,000 tops, except Aussie stadium, they can't fill that for the NRL grand final, so we wouldn't.

even though they are the smallest what? state, it's population, that matters, Vic is the 2nd biggest in that regard.

the collingwood comment, no arguments from me mate, but it's the AFL who do the draw, it's all about the cash, man.

Lastly, when this all began, the AFL signed an agreement with the MCC to play the grand final at the MCG for the next 50 years, so you still have a few years to wait. It makes good business sense to hold it there, it's the home of football, imagine the FA cup being played anywhere but wembley or the US masters anywhere but Augusta, wouldn't happen.

  18. Some Victorians will never accept the fact that it is now the AFL.

If non-Victorian teams had not entered the competition many more teams would have gone broke - just like Fitzroy & Soth Melbourne did.

Melbourne based teams are still having problems surviving.
