When will a canceled domain be released?

The domain was purchased by godaddy but then canceled, how long will it take until the domain is available to be purchased again?

Who.is shows this domain name is expired but godaddy retains some sort of control over it, so you won't be able to re-register yourself. You should contact godaddy to reach a solution over this.
