When will a hamster get pregnant?

I want a hamster, but my mom is getting really questioning so i need info. The hamster i really want is a dwarf hamster or a syrian hamster. i need to know when they give birth if i put in a male and a female in the same cage.

Well a hamster should get pregnant about a week after being in with a male. She will be pregnant for somewhere around 21-23 days and she will be noticably pregnant about a week before she has them. When you can tell she is pregnant give her some tissue or toilet paper to make a nest out of. and take the male out and give him his own cage or he can kill the babies. Once she gives birth do not disturb her or the cage for atleast 3 days. Once the babies have some hair you can handle them, but ALWAYS rub your hands in her bedding before touching them so she doesnt smell you and kill them. When they are about 4 weeks old, or eating and drinking from the water bottle, they are ready to be seperated and put into male and female cages. Good luck with it.
