I have a Full HD television, and I'm disappointed with how only some things are in HD. When will it be when the majority of things are filmed in HD?

  1. The transition to HD is a very expensive proposition.  EVERYTHING in the chain from the camera, editing, distribution, routing and delivery to your TV must be HD.  This is going to take a lot of time and money by a lot of different entities to complete.  I would expect at least 3 to 5 years, but that is just a guess.  The transition to digital transmission in the US has taken 12 years so far.

Many programs are currently produced in HD, but the delivery paths to the consumers are not yet in place.

I hope this helps.  Please return and select a Best Answer from all of those submitted.

  2. plz explain it in more detail...

    (a)television broadcasts

    (b)recording from camera

A)in Australia, most channels have HD 1080 (or close)with 5.1ch audio..

    the pictures are just amazing!!!!

B)big manufacturers have started producing video cameras that can capture 1080p video, these include Sony Panasonic Samsung and JVC

  3. HD is a premium product at the minute so only the cable/sat operators show it , and only a few in HD.

All new programs Are recorded in HD but few are transmitted in it to persuade the rest of us to upgrade services at extra cost to HD.

Once the digital changeover occurs then Freeview will also have some HD channels then once its truly free they will transmit more in HD.

HD occupies about 4 times as much bandwidth as Standard TV so many will have to reduce the number of channels (1000 is to many anyway) to transmit everything in HD but at the moment many people buy on the basis of the number of channels not the quality.

the average Sky user likes to watch, ITV, SKY 1,2,3, c**p, c**p+1Hr, c**p+2Hr etc and so on once they reduce the number of channels repeating the same rubbish and have fewer HD channels then you will see everything in HD so long as you have a HD TV and a HD sky box.

persuade Mr & Mrs CHAV that more c**p isn't better than fewer quality channels and you'll get them.

Sky pitch to their market and at the minute its the CHAV brigade who buy it the most i.e those who like 1000 channels with 980 of the c**p+1Hr
