When will fuel cells to run a home be available?

Freedom Tower at site of World Trade Center will use an alternative energy source to supply some of the power needed. United Technologies Corp. will supply 12 fuel cells totaling 4.8 megawatts for the Freedom Tower and three other buildings at the lower Manhattan site. The amount of megawatts is equivalent to the power used by up to 4,800 homes.

- one fuel for 400 homes means one-quarter of a fuel cell to run 100 homes?

Not for awhile. Certain things have to be passed through Congress first then it has to blended into society. Your best bet is to look into getting solar panels for your home. Overtime it'll help you save alot of money on energy. And in some states they'll help you pay for the cells.  Make enough energy and the government will pay you for making energy. Good luck!!
