When will it start to get cold in north Carolina ?

i live in central north Carolina near Raleigh and Durham and want to know when will it start to chill and get cold

  1. It depends on your definition of "cold."  To me, cold is below 50 degrees F.  October and November is usually 40's F at night, but still decent during the day 60-70 for averages.  In December is when you begin to have low temperatures in the 30's consistently.  There are years the first freeze is in October, but it warms back up and isn't consistent.  December through February is the coldest temperatures with January being the coldest. In Jan., night time temperatures dip below the 32 degree mark for about 3 weeks during which freezing rain/sleet/snow is possible though usually not in great amounts.  If you're tired of the humidity and heat, you'll feel the difference in mid-September and your first cold front in October.  Enjoy the 4 seasons of NC :)
