When will lightscribe be able to label in color?

Question

I like making DVDs and i think that making the label in grayscale is just plain stupid.

Why is lightscribe so popular when it can't print in COLOR?

Does anyone know when lightscribe will be able to print in FULL COLOR, as in take a picture from my files and put it directly on the disc in its full color.

Would i need to buy a new drive to make it in full color?

Does anyone know?

Hello,

I don't think lightscribe will ever be able to etch DVDs in colour. This is because lightscribe uses a laser to etch the required patterns onto the DVD, therefore it is not possible for it to 'add' colour when it is creating the CD. Think of it this way, imagine you're using a chisel to carve stone, is it possible for you to colour the stone (except if the stone itself is coloured) while you're creating your statue, it is not. Likewise, it is not possible, at least for now, to use lightscribe to create colour images.
