  1. well you can aucatlly lift the lid off and look in when the mama is out but dont touch or if you want to put her back with the mama but you can touch him if you a hand feeding them like i do with my grandma

  2. After 6 weeks when it is hatched. If it does not come out, you can actually lift the lid and take it out.

Mine came out when it was about 5 weeks.

  3. It might take about 2 - 4 weeks until it gets out. Just let it take its time. You could open the lid on top of the nesting box. Don't force it to come out though.

  4. Budgies tend to fledge around 3-6 weeks. If your hen isn't overly nervous or a first time mother you should have no problems handling the baby in the nest from about 10 days old (when they start to get pin feathers).

I start to handle all my babies from this age to get them used to people, and to check them over to be sure they are growing and developing the way they are meant to.

If you are worried about being "hands on" you can also just peek in...if the hen won't leave the nest don't push her, just wait until she leaves the box to do her business and take a peek.

You should ge in the habit of checking on babies daily to make sure they are being fed properly, and to be sure there are no medical problems such as splayed legs.

  5. leave it alone till it has feathers at least.
