When will my carrots be ready for harvest?

This year was my first having a garden. I planted carrots in the late spring/early summer. When will they be ready to pull and how will I know?

  1. I don't know whereabouts you live (countrywise I mean) but here are 1 or 2 tips -

    When the green leaves at the tops are quite long - approx 10 inch to a foot.

    Gently clear the soil from just below the tops until you see the top of the carrot - if it has a diameter big enough for you then pull!

    If you want smaller, more tender carrots pick sooner.

    You can also roughly say 3 months from when you planted but ofcourse this can depend on climate and growing conditions.

    Enjoy them when you do have them - you will never be able to buy them with as good a flavour.
