When will my period return?

My four month old is exclusively breastfed and I think my period has returned, is this normal?

Yes it is normal actually...

Periods may return anytime between 2 months and 1 year afterbirth, even when breastfeeding.

The old wive tales of a woman breastfeeding and not getting pregnant is wrong. Be careful because you may get pregnant before you are ready for it again.

My periods came back after 2 months, and I am also exclusively breastfeeding!... Have a good day!

My son is 5 months and I just got my period back yesterday.  I was totally bummed because I have heard of women who do not get it the entire time they breast feed. . . .it sucks!!!

....okay i've not had a normal period since the month before i got pregnant w/my last child.

that was in December of 2006!

i breast fed exclusively until he was about 6 months then he got some solids w/breast milk too.

in May i got a period, then i skipped June and July altogether, but had one for August already...so i have NO idea if I'm back on track yet. basically i've only had 2 periods since Dec of 2006! i love it! LOL

it takes a long time for your body to readjust, especially when you breast feed.

With my first, it was 11 months - with my second, it was 17 months. Everyone is different.

thats about right.. ob said 10-12 weeks before period makes a grand entrance

Perfectly normal. All women are different. Some get a period back very early (sometimes as early as 2-3 months), others don't see a drop of blood until baby is weaned, even if they nurse for several years.  The 'average' is 9 months.

That is normal-although, I breastfeed for 9 months and didn't get my period until about 2 months even after that.

As mentioned, it is normal BUT don't expect it to be regular or on-time every month, as you know--breastfeeding effects the woman hormones!
